Backjet droplet

Blue Tranquility, originally uploaded by thefost.
When a drop of water touches the surface, it creates a hole that is quickly filled by the surrounding mass of water. However, the amount of water that fills the hole quickly overflows it and sends a stream of excess water upward. Unable to sustain itself, the column of water also falls down, leaving a backjet droplet behind.
